Warbux Nation Poster

WarbuxI made this Shepard Fairey stylized poster for a friend of mine who happens to be a DJ for a local radio station (90.5 WBER Rochester). This is the digital version of course. I plan on turning this into a large painting/print on wood panel whenever I get the time to do so!

Online Art Show – Monster Mayhem

The art group that I’m in currently has an online gallery that you should check out! The theme of the show that’s up right now is Monster Mayhem. I’ll post some of my entries later this week.

My Etsy Shop was Featured!

I recently decided to open up an Etsy shop to hopefully sell some prints of my digital work. Recently, as in, just a few weeks ago. So when I got a message from Etsy telling me that my shop was being featured, I was quite surprised! The blog that is featuring me, along with a few other artists, is called TotusMel’s Wunderkammer. Taken from the site, it’s “A collection of curiosities discovered in the dark and wondrous corners of Etsy.” Pretty pumped, and it’s a very cool site to check out.

You should probably check out this awesome Etsy shop too. Its got some high quality prints from my most recent Heroes and Villains show!

What Snow Storm?

Tonight is hopefully a big night! It’s the Heroes and Villains art show at Record Archives in Rochester, NY. There’s going to be tons of great talent and variety there, so definitely check it out between 6-9. Let’s just hope that this “historical” winter storm Nemo decides to procrastinate until later tonight.

Heroes and Villains will be featuring the talents of: Steve Resig (Me!), Joe Guy Allard, Shane Caryl, John Magnus Champlin, Cordell Cordaro, Randy Duncan, Adam Francey, Aaron Humby, Stephen Lindsay, John Perry, Mr. PRVT, Matt Roberts and Ryan

Heroes and Villains

I’ve been getting ready for an art show the past few weeks, and it’s been a blast. The show is titled “Heroes and Villains,” so you can pretty much guess the subject matter for all of the pieces being entered. You probably recognize this scene from when I posted its’ progress a number of weeks ago. I decided to finish it up with the addition of Wolverine. The idea for this painting was very much influenced by the new Wolverine movie coming out which is based in Japan.

I wanted to try something new with the pieces I did for this art show. I decided to combine the two styles of art that i have the most fun with: concept landscapes and cute, chubby characters. I like how they came out, serious yet playful.

If you’re in the Rochester area, you should come out to the show on February 8th at Record Archives!

Graphic Design for a Podcast

I recently did the graphics for a Music Therapy based podcast called “On the go studio”. They provide tips, songs, comic relief, muffins and resources for fellow music therapists in the online community. This particular piece is the banner for the website. They wanted a more retro-old-timey feel combined with a clean, crisp modern style as well. I think the color scheme is what ties it all together quite effectively.

You can check out this awesome new site here!

It’s a Magical World

It seems to be an established tradition, as of three years ago, for me to draw our Christmas cards that get sent out during the holidays. This year I was inspired by the comic Calvin & Hobbes, by Bill Watterson. I basically drew myself with my girls in the style of the comic with a watercolor scene from one of Watterson’s book covers.

Galileo Galilei

I just started a series of digital paintings based on the most influential scientists in history. I wanted to create a more rough overall feel to the painting by keeping the sketchy under drawing and initial brush strokes. Here’s Galileo!

Full Moon Digital Painting Progress

Here’s another concept scene i’m currently working on for practice. I’ve got the sky and overall color scheme finished, so now it’s just time to do the rest of it! Details.. details..
