A New Series of Works Inspired by Homer’s “Iliad”

I painted this series entitled “Homers Iliad” a few years back and have been building up the motivation to start another. These works are a collection of scenes from the Iliad written by the Greek poet Homer back in the day. I am a die-hard fan of ancient history and after having read the Iliad I had to create something that illustrated the epic-ness of what was written. For the new series, I’m definitely staying in the “epic” direction in terms of story and subject matter, but I’m thinking the overall size is going to have to shrink. Transporting these paintings were about a 6 on the stress-0-meter, right between kids and work. But seeing as how I don’t have kids, rating them probably isn’t entirely fair. Overall style is staying the same too. I began combining monochromatic color schemes, landscapes and geometric designs just a year or so before tackling these works and have been loving it ever since. My progress will hopefully be appearing regularly!

  1. Way too cool! These are awesome pictures and remind me of the Iliad as well!
